Marie-France Roy grew up in Quebec, Canada, and started snowboarding at 11 years old following her two older brothers around the local resort. A love for snowboarding later influenced her move to Whistler, British Columbia, where she has been living for over 15 years. From her early competition experience at events like X Games to her latest backcountry approach featured in several films, Roy has traveled the world while enjoying the ride. Known for being one of the most stylish and versatile riders in snowboarding, Roy is also recognized for her humble and giving nature. She has won the Transworld Snowboarding Rider of the year accolades both in 2008 and 2015 and was the recipient of the 2015 Climate Activist Award from Protect Our Winters after producing The Little Things Movie. Roy divides her time between Whistler and a self-built, environmentally-minded cob home on the west coast of Vancouver Island. She is also the co-founder of The WestCoast Triple Plank, a Snow-Skate-Surf fundraising event for Wild Salmon Restoration and sits on the Board of Directors for Protect Our Winters Canada.
"I feel very lucky to be able to enjoy the mountains and use snowboarding as a tool to create positive change in the World and connect people with each other and Nature. Working with companies that share the same values is important to me and that is why it is an honor to be a part of the Zeal family."
