Growing up in Pennsylvania way out in the country, building an appreciation for everything outside was easy for Josh, but getting away from his small town to see more was the first step. He joined the military to become a Navy SEAL, and saw the world. He didn't see the nice parts though, but instead saw the war zones, and poverty stricken regions that made him appreciate home. He then moved to Colorado to pursue a lifestyle in the mountains. Finding splitboarding, he never looked back. After honing his craft, in 2017 he climbed and rode down all 54 14ers in record time, 138 days. He has since become a member of the Protect Our Winters Riders Alliance, and wants to propel more people into the mountains with his Journey Lines project.
"I have a nasty habit of wanting to go further, looking over the next ridge, and staying out till dark. Zeal Optics purposely makes products that keep up with those ideals because they want more people to be like that."
